KTDC Payasam Mela at Trivandrum from August 24

Kerala Tourism Development’s Hotel Chaitram in Thiruvananthapuram gets ready for its annual payasam mela with 11 delicious payasams. A big hit with customers, the mela has become a regular feature of Onam celebrations in the capital city. The same fete is being conducted in other cities in Kerala too.

T.P. Shine, food and beverages manager of Chaitram, says the mela is likely to begin on August 24 or 25 depending on the official inaugural of the fete.

Some of the payasams on the menu are
  • Paal payasam
  • Ada payasam
  • Ada pradhaman
  • Navarasa payasam (made of both fresh and dry fruits)
  • Pineapple paysam
  • Kadala pradhaman
  • Chakka (jackfruit) pradhaman
  • Pazha (plantain) pradhama
  • Godambu (wheat) payasam

Payasam will be sold by the cup and also in half-litre and one-litre packs. Each cup costs Rs. 25 while each litre costs Rs. 200. The counter will function from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The mela will function till Thiruvonam noon. But there are no reservations. Early birds get the payasams of their choice.
